FAQ

What is Letters From Legends, exactly?

It’s a monthly mail subscription service for kids. Each month your child receives a physical letter written in the first person voice of a real historical figure (e.g., George Washington), plus supporting materials based on your subscription level to help them learn and stay curious. It’s creative historical storytelling, not a photocopy of a primary source.

Are the letters actual historical documents?

No. They’re new, kid friendly retellings written as if the historical figure were speaking directly to your child. We lean on solid history, then translate it into an engaging letter format. When we reference specific facts or events, we base them on reputable history sources. Our Sample Letter Page has a good example of what a typical letter from us will look like.

What age range is this for?

Most families find the sweet spot is roughly ages 6-12: early readers enjoy being read to, older kids can read solo and dive into the extras. Teachers and history loving teens also enjoy reading them for extra enrichment.

What Arrives each month?

It depends on your subscription tier, but all them come with one physical letter “from” that months historical legend, written in a friendly voice that kids can follow.

Different subscription levels offer various upgrades to the base package and offer a more premium experience for your child. These can include activity sheets, coloring pages, more in depth fact sheets and other diverse ways to encourage learning and support curiosity about history.

You can visit our Subscription Page to see a more in depth viewing of what exactly our different subscription tiers have to offer.
